19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He defended four initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
